AXIS Communications XFQ1656 Explosion-Proof Camera.

Hazardous zone-certified camera with edge processing
Our camera of choice is Axis Communications’ XFQ1656, which is certified worldwide for use in hazardous locations – such as the Class I Div 1 rated shale shaker room.

It contains a proprietary onboard processor to deliver valuable image-based data, analyzed by deep learning algorithms.

This is the heart of our cuttings detection and characterization process.

Key features and technologies

AXIS Object Analytics

AXIS Object Analytics is a preinstalled video analytics platform that detects and classifies objects in the video stream. AI-based algorithms analyze the scene and spatial behavior within it and are customized for our shale shaker application. Scalable and edge-based, it requires minimum effort to set up and supports analyzing multiple regions of interest simultaneously.

Axis Edge Vault

Axis Edge Vault is the hardware-based cybersecurity platform that safeguards Axis devices. It safeguards device integrity and protects sensitive information from unauthorized access.

Secure Boot & Signed Firmware

This hardware-based mechanism verifies the operating system (AXIS OS), which is cryptographically signed during the build process. Secure boot and signed firmware ensure that the device has not been tampered with and that it only boots from authorized firmware. This creates an unbroken chain of cryptographically validated software that our secure operations can depend on.

Secure Keystore

The secure keystore is a critical building-block for protecting information used for secure communication in the event of a security breach. It is provided through a Common Criteria and/or FIPS 140 certified hardware-based cryptographic computing module.

Signed Video

Signed video ensures that video data can be verified as unaltered. Each camera adds a signature to its video stream usinga unique video signing key, which is kept in the secure keystore. This allows each video to be traced back to the Axis camera from where it originated.
Electronic Image Stabilization
Electronic image stabilization (EIS) helps us record smooth video, even when the camera is subject to shaker and rig vibrations. Gyroscopic sensors continuously detect the camera’s movements and automatically adjust the frame to capture the details we need. Electronic image stabilization applies algorithms to model camera motion and correct the resulting images.
Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) Technology
Wide dynamic range (WDR) technology makes the difference between seeing important details clearly and seeing nothing but a blur in challenging light conditions. Differences between the darkest and brightest spots in an image can spell trouble for clarity and analysis. WDR reduces visible noise and artifacts to deliver video tuned for maximal usability.
Lightfinder
Axis Lightfinder technology delivers high-resolution video with minimum blur even in near darkness. It strips away noise to make dark areas more visible and capture details in very low light – performing better than the human eye.
